Sekian terima kasih.

Following the enforcement of the Phase One total lockdown from 1 June 2021 to 14 June 2021, the University Management has taken several measures, based on the procedures outlined by the Government, to ensure that all administrative matters are not affected while maintaining the welfare of staff and students.

Currently, there are a total of 2,764 students staying in on-campus residential colleges and 220 registered students who are living off-campus. Movement in and out of campus is not permissible for all students. To ensure that the daily needs of students are not affected, all cafeterias and grocery stores in the University's residential colleges are allowed to operate from 8 am to 8 pm. Moreover, online food and necessities delivery services such as Grab Food, Food Panda are permitted access to campus.

There are also a total of 127 students undergoing quarantine as a result of close contact at 8th  Residential College. Furthermore, a total of 21 COVID-19 positive students are being given treatment and care separately at the 10th Residential College; the care is jointly provided by the Health Clinic UM, COVID-19 BHEP Management Committee, PPUM and PKD. This segregation of COVID-19 positive students has been organized due to a lack of adequate spaces in UMMC and MAEPS. These students are provided with food three times a day in addition to the supply of dry food provided by BHEP Foodbank.

To help alleviate the burden experienced by students, I urge anyone interested in making a sincere contribution for that purpose, to contribute to the UM COVID-19 Fund through the methods described in the following poster:

Your contribution is very important to enable us to continue successfully with all programs and assistance planned for groups of students in need. For more information on matters involving the welfare of students on campus, you can contact Ustaz Mizra Hilmi, BHEP Senior Religious Affairs Officer at the email address mizra@um.edu.my

Finally, I call on all campus residents to cooperate in complying with the SOPs that have been enforced. Let us break this COVID-19 chain together.

Thank you.
